  • Route B matters if you are a landlord, a general contractor, or a property manager. When a failed shower door or leaking faucet creates a call at 7pm, you stop noticing the price difference between cheap and specified.
  • If a supplier cannot name their upstream chemical source, that is a red flag. You do not have to specify Eastman specifically, but you should specify someone. 'It comes from our own factory' is not a chemical pedigree.
Bottom line: cheap can be the right answer for a small, short-term project. For anything with a warranty, a tenant, or a safety liability, spend the extra money on material provenance. Then ask for proof.
